Twinkle Little Star - Pediatric Health from an Ayurvedic Perspective
Ayurveda as a health and wellness system has been supporting mothers and their new-born children for thousands of years - offering a wealth of resources and insights that allow us to confidently parent our new-borns with a variety of solutions at our disposal.
In the first part of a 2-part series, Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc, founder and director of The Ayurvedic Institute, will explore the Ayurvedic approach to pediatric care by beginning with an understanding of the all the factors that impact the development of a fetus in the womb and can define the eventual Prakruti - unique doshic constitution - of our child. We will explore ancient Ayurvedic texts and how they frame pediatric healthcare as a process that begins early, while the child is still in the womb, not waiting until after the birth of a child, and how certain factors can impact the experience of the pregnancy and ultimate ongoing health of both mother and baby.
In the second part, we will explore specific therapies and home remedies that can be employed by caregivers to alleviate common ailments and complaints encountered in early childhood. This session focuses on practical solutions for newborn care using Ayurvedic wisdom. Vasant Lad, an expert, will cover remedies for common infant ailments like diaper rash, breastfeeding support, ear infections, and more.
